Electrical

Here is a glimpse of our electrical plan and a list of upgrades that we selected. We chose for McDonald Jones to do the majority of our electrical, leaving a few minor things like fans and bathroom lights to a relative who is a sparky. We added a lot more than we originally anticipated!

This complicated looking diagram is our electrical plan. You can see we have a lot of lights connected to 2, 3 and 4 gang switches, also with some two way switching. The kitchen is probably the most lit up part of the house.

We didn't do anything too indulgent like adding media systems, alarms, ducted vacuuming etc. We did however splurge on Clipsal Saturn LED switches throughout the house, and Clipsal Saturn power points in the more visible locations. This is what they will look like

The things we are doing after handover will include fans to all bedrooms, heat/fan/light combos in bathrooms and any extra power points needed. We originally intended on doing pendant lights after handover as well, but the prices weren't too bad from MDJ. Here are the pendants we selected for the kitchen and master bedroom:

Casa Pendant over Island Bench.        Rassino 3 light pendant in clear either side of bed.

Here is our electrical list (including upgrades and standard inclusions):

3   x   Double GPO
3   x   One gang LED switches
3   x   Two gang LED switches

4    x   Four gang LED switches

There were also some extra costs for 2 way switching, a kill switch for the gas oven, cut out to the glass splash back and for adding a power point to the island bench.

Electrical took a LOT of planning and research but we are very excited to see the final results once the house is built!

    1. Sorry Rachael, I just noticed your comment and had missed the email notification! We spent $14k on electrical which looking back was probably a bit over the top haha.
